03 September 2022

PORCELANOSA showcases its most innovative collections at Milan Design Week The Spanish multinational company exhibits its new materials for kitchens and bathrooms at the Salone del Mobile.Milano, with functionality and energy efficiency leading the way.

As part of the Fuorisalone 2022 programme, the firm has organised the exhibit "Light: Battle Between Space and Time" with Italian architect Roberto Bellantoni. Its original designer lamps will be on display until 12 June in the central showroom in Piazza Castello, 19.

Technology and the ecological transition are the foundations that underpin the Salone del Mobile in Milan. The largest design event in the world will focus on the latest trends in home furniture, with the PORCELANOSA Group showing off its products at the Fiera Milano Rho venue until 12 June.

Designer kitchens and sustainable bathrooms

The Spanish multinational has set up its latest collections for kitchens and bathrooms in two spacious 500 m2 stands, with Gamadecor and Noken as its main brands. The first showroom, measuring 300 m2, features five innovative Gamadecor kitchens, with a predominance of fine materials such as wood and ceramics, in combination with new artificial intelligence systems. In hall 11 A25-B26, visitors can see the firm's latest developments and the multiple designs it is proposing with the ceramic series and mineral compact tiles of the PORCELANOSA Group.

Resistant and infinite tabletops designed with the Solid Surface Krion® Snow Cloudy or with textures similar to Marquina black marble (XTONE Black Polished Marquina) or Carrara (Invisible White from XTONE), hexagonal tables, high chairs in oak and leather, backlit shelves and high-tech kitchens (Smart Kitchen) are some of the products being presented by Gamadecor in this 60th edition of the Salone del Mobile.

As an example of the company's comprehensive solutions, Porcelanosa's most natural ceramic floor and wall tiles (Hannover and Treviso), as well as its new Solidker® technical full-body porcelain stoneware, have their place in different settings too. Ceramic pieces that are interspersed with natural stones, metal mosaics (Gravity Aluminium Sides Gold), wood and vinyl (Linkfloor Legend) by L'Antic Colonial.

As for bathrooms, the Noken company of the PORCELANOSA Group is exhibiting its new facilities and designer collections for the first time at this international fair. It is doing so in a 200 m2 stand (hall 22 G14-G16) and five open spaces dedicated to responsible water consumption, handcrafted finishes (Finish Studio aesthetic) and energy efficiency.

Wellness areas with chromotherapy programmes and hydromassage tubs (Care systems to oxygenate water and increase collagen levels), electronic toilets, WaterForest taps that use up to 89% less water, shower trays made from recycled materials (Slate collection) and collections designed by Pritzker Award winners (Vitae by Zaha Hadid Architects and Tono by Foster & Partners) are just some of the products that will be featured in the bathrooms of the future. "We have been refocusing our collections for years towards more sustainable formulas that in turn promote caring for the environment through something as ordinary as opening the tap. The growth experienced by the Research and Development departments has allowed us to create innovative solutions with more practical and intuitive designs that seek to reduce water use, thereby kindling the user's ecological mindfulness", explains Noken.

Roberto Bellantoni lamps light up Milan

Avant-garde design, new architecture and artistic experimentation will not only take place in the Fiera Milano Rho centre, but also in the streets, galleries and shops in the city that have joined the Fuorisalone as part of the programming for Milan Design Week 2022 (6 to 12 June). Such is the case of the Porcelanosa showroom in the city (Piazza Castello, 19), which will host the exhibit Light: Battle Between Space and Time by Italian architect and designer Roberto Bellantoni through 12 June.

In keeping with the main theme of the Fuorisalone ("between space and time"), Bellantoni challenges the limits of time and man through the power of light. This is the idea he conveys to his creations and to the lamp collection that he has designed exclusively for Porcelanosa with the natural stone Pangea (Altissima by XTONE) and the compact mineral Krion®.

The Bellantoni exhibit featuring the four Porcelanosa models revolves around lighting as a cohesive element of interior design and architecture. "Light, whether natural or artificial, influences the three-dimensional perception of space and colour", says Bellantoni.

The Bellantoni lamps in the ЯO and ЯA collections that are now arriving at the Porcelanosa store in Milan are not simple objects, but memories and journeys turned into matter that are in turn part of society. "It is essential for me to imprint the memory of the stories I have lived in an object, that way it takes on its own life and enters the homes of others", muses the architect.

This travelling spirit is evident in the models that he created with the Pangea natural stone by Porcelanosa, whose visual and subtle compositional strength is inspired by the L'Umbracle urban garden that Santiago Calatrava designed as part of the City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia. "As I was walking through this garden, I noticed the effect of the shadows that filtered through the structure and in the leaves that cropped up everywhere. That memory led me to design a lamp that, when lit, casts shadows", says a pensive Bellantoni.

Combining natural textures with more sintered materials is also what the Moodboards workshop that Porcelanosa has planned at its Milan store, through 12 June, seeks to encourage. Intended for professionals and fans of interior design and architecture, this activity aims to bring Porcelanosa's design closer to the different sectors through unrestrained creativity and teamwork
